Michelle would have to be one of the most inspirational people I have ever known. In the 10 years that I have known her I have heard her address all sorts of different forums and the impact that her words have on people is amazing. One example which I will always remember was her acceptance speech at the Telstra Business Woman of the Year in 2005. She spoke unscripted and from the heart for close to half an hour, bringing many, many of those present, people from all walks of business, to tears with her passion for what she does and her unswerving belief in helping others. In her life Michelle is constantly juggling business and community responsibilities with so much energy and determination. She is an excellent strategist, sorting options, assessing priorities and simplifying issues so that the best pathway forward becomes apparent. Michelle has great people skills, able to get the core message across to so many different people and has gained support from many areas of the community. The NT Working Women's Centre engaged Michelle Hanton from Dragon Sisters to assist us with marketing, fundraising and profile raising. As a small NGO, we were very lucky to obtain a grant from the NT Department of Business and Innovation to assist with this. From the beginning, we felt in very safe hands as Michelle quickly understood the way we worked, our values and objectives and the particular challenges we face. It was a difficult time for us as we were managing federal funding issues, and Michelle was supportive and proactive in ensuring that the necessary work we had to do for our organisation's survival was complemented by the profile raising. Michelle worked with us on increasing our social media presence, online fundraising, event organisation, expanding our circle of influence and embedding a more structured approach to service promotion. As a result of the work, we raised a significant amount of money to assist us in decreasing our reliance on government grants. We also learned new skills that we will continue to apply to ensure the longevity of our organisation. Michelle definitely went the extra mile for us, working above and beyond our expectations and drawing from her own networks to support us. Her kindness, passion, humour, skill, understanding and flexibility always made our meetings something to look forward to. We cannot thank Michelle enough for her help.
